About the author

Luke is a born naturalist—observing and taking note of the immense beauty in his world. From the song of a Pacific wren to the towering Douglas fir, nature drew his curiosity from a young age. Growing up on the Olympic Peninsula, WA, he was able to explore the mountains, forest, and ocean becoming closely acquainted with the ecology of Cascadia. Over the years, he has expressed his curiosity in nature through art, birding, hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, mountaineering, and working in scientific research. He now resides with his wife in Western Washington where he enjoys the present, dreams about the future, and smiles about the past.
